Scholarship Project
With high unemployment rates, decline in tourism, coupled with an economy that depends largely on sustained bilateral and multilateral aid, the average Gambian family is confronted with tough choices. Evidence shows that some school children have to drop out of school because their families could not afford to pay tuition, buy uniforms, books and meet transportation costs to and from school. The absence of Government aid, and almost none-existent support from the private sector lives students with no other alternatives, as such their ambitions and future dreams remains blurry and uncertain. Without help how can any of these students reach their potentials?
Seagam recognizes that we cannot eradicate these circumstances over night and even if we wanted to, we do not have the wherewithal, but we also know that inaction is not an option.
Seagam is proud to announced its scholarship program. We have sponsored 11 school children in The Gambia. (List of schools/beneficiaries to be provided soon). Our goal in the next 12 months is to reach out to more needy students. With your help we can do it, please contact us today and pledge your support.
HIV/AIDS Project
According to the 2001 world fact book estimates, 8,400 people in The Gambia live with HIV/AIDS and 400 died of the disease so far. It is with certainty that the numbers have increased and the need for SeaGam to participate in the country's current efforts is of utmost importance. Seagam is collaborating with The Gambia Ministry of Health, (Health Education Unit) to help supplement current HIV/AIDS awareness programs by means of financial support.
Technology Project
SeaGam is
currently seeking donations from individuals and private
organizations to help sponsor our technology project aimed at
providing technology training to its members and the general public.
The skills focused technology project will be implemented in Seattle
and in the Gambia. SeaGam, will seek and collaborate with Industry
leaders and management firms to identify appropriate skill sets and
training modules that could be utilized in this project. Our
training will be tailored to help prepare students and career
changers with the skills they need to be competitive. Together we
can make a difference.
We are seeking donations for used computers, books and also
instructors who will be willing to train our students. If you are
interested or know someone who can help, please have them contact or
or send us their contact information. SeaGam can be reached at
